Wales is Top Holiday Home Location for the UK
Holiday Home insurance company Schofields Ltd recently revealed the ranking of top holiday home locations in the UK for 2020/2021.
It comes as no surprise for many that Wales would top the list of Holiday Home location for the UK. Schofields Ltd recently released their study which also includes information such as: where most holiday homes are located, where most people are looking forward to visit once travel restriction will be lifted, and which locations are seen to be the next top destinations.
Trends show that more and more people are looking to spend more time outdoors and getting fresh air. Wales has the mountainscapes and coastlines to provide the various needs of visitors and guests. It is also perfectly situated, being only 2 hours away from London. It is also not a long journey from cities like Liverpool, Birmingham or Manchester.
Coming in second on the list is Cornwall with 12.82 % of UK holiday homes located here. The top holiday homes locations are based on figures for home insurance contracts renewed or purchased from January 2020 to present June 2020.
The figures show that these are the top locations for the year:
1. Wales - 15.35%
2. Cornwall - 12.82%
3. Scotland - 9.30%
4. Devon - 8.39%
5. North Yorkshire - 8.13%
6. Norfolk - 6.12%
7. Highlands - 5.34%
8. Cumbria - 5.01%
9. Dorset - 3.19%
10. Northumberland - 2.86%
The Schofield data reveals that despite the global pandemic, people are still renewing their insurance contracts on holiday homes and many new contracts are rolling in. This shows that people remain hopeful in the midst of all this.
Phil Schofield, Head of Inbound Marketing, comments:
"Getting away from home safely once restrictions have been lifted is something that's on everyone's minds. Holiday homes and holiday cottages are top of people's lists due to their privacy and ease. Data suggests that people in the UK take breaks of 2-3 days more frequently than any other length of holiday, so being able to make a short journey with less stress to a holiday cottage or holiday home is really important.
"The top locations for holiday homes in 2020 aren't a surprise to us. It seems that people are wanting to find destinations that are off the usual beaten track in the UK and won't be quite so crowded as the hotspots. Hopefully our data will help tourists choose destinations for short breaks in the UK where they can easily find holiday cottage accommodation but will have plenty to see and do."
